This statue of St. Anne is in Calvary Cemetery on West Lake Road in Erie, PA.
St. Anne was the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Along with her husband, St. Joachim, St. Anne raised the girl who was to go on to be the Mother of Christ. Tradition holds that Sts. Anne and Joachim died and were buried in Jerusalem. In the 4th century, a church was built in their honor over what was believed to have been their home in Jerusalem. St. Anne is often depicted with a young St. Mary, as she is in this statue.
