Die Kirche zum heiligen Ägydius ist die römisch-katholische Pfarrkirche von Oberlaa und befindet sich am Oberlaaer Platz im 10. Wiener Gemeindebezirk Favoriten. Die Pfarre gehört zum Stadtdekanat 10 der Erzdiözese Wien.
Geschichte:
Eine Kirche wird in Oberlaa schon 1267 bezeugt. Etwa seit 1324 war sie Pfarrkirche. Während der Zweiten Türkenbelagerung Wiens 1683 zerstört, fand zunächst nur ein notdürftiger Wiederaufbau statt. Erst in den Jahren 1744–1746 errichtete Mathias Gerl den heutigen Kirchenbau im Barockstil.
Außenseite:
Dominierend an der Außenseite ist die südliche Fassade mit dem Tor und einem Glockenturm mit Zwiebelhelm. Auf der durch Pilaster und Voluten gegliederten Fassade befinden sich in Nischen die Figuren der Apostel Petrus und Paulus von Philipp Anton Höller von 1744 bis 1745. An der nach Norden zu gelegenen Apsis befindet sich an der Außenseite das klassizistische Grabmal von Joseph Ritter von Vallemary.
Ausstattung:
Die Ausstattung im Inneren besteht aus dem Hauptaltar von Sebastian Haupt aus der Zeit um 1759. Das Hochaltarbild des heiligen Ägidius von St. Gilles stammt von Johann Zimbal. Das Bild am rechten Seitenaltar, ebenfalls von Johann Zimbal geschaffen, stellt den heiligen Sebastian dar (1749). Am linken Seitenaltar sieht man, wahrscheinlich ebenfalls von Zimbal, das Bild der Heiligen Dreifaltigkeit.
Die Kanzel wurde um 1760 von Johann Tabotta geschaffen.
Die Kirchenbänke stammen noch aus der Bauzeit. Eine Kommunionbank aus rotem und schwarzem Marmor ist ebenfalls barock.
In der Sakristei befindet sich ein Schrank aus der Bauzeit und ein Kruzifix ebenfalls aus dem 18. Jahrhundert. Das Taufbecken in der Taufkapelle stammt von Joseph Allbrecht und wurde 1777 aus rotem Marmor geschaffen.

The Church of St. Egidius is the Roman Catholic parish church of Oberlaa and is located on the Oberlaaer Platz in the 10th district of Vienna. The parish belongs to the city decay 10 of the Archdiocese of Vienna.

A church is already testified in Oberlaa in 1267. Since about 1324 it was a parish church. During the Second Turkish Siege of Vienna in 1683 destroyed, initially only a makeshift reconstruction took place. It was only in the years 1744-1746 that Mathias Gerl built the present church building in the Baroque style.
Outside:
Dominating the outside is the southern facade with the gate and a bell tower with onion dome. On the facade divided by pilasters and volutes, the statues of the apostles Peter and Paul by Philipp Anton Höller from 1744 to 1745 are located in niches. The neoclassical tomb of Joseph Ritter von Vallemary is located on the outside at the apse on the north.
Equipment:
The interior is made up of the main altar of Sebastian Haupt, dating from around 1759. The high altar of St. Egidius of St. Gilles was made by Johann Zimbal. The picture on the right side altar, also created by Johann Zimbal, depicts St. Sebastian (1749). On the left side altar, the image of the Holy Trinity can be seen, probably also from Zimbal.

The church benches still date from the construction period. A communion rail of red and black marble is also baroque.
In the sacristy there is a cupboard from the construction period and a crucifix also from the 18th century. The baptismal font in the baptismal chapel comes from Joseph Allbrecht and was created in 1777 from red marble.
