From the marker:
"Baldur was the first general fishing boat in Iceland to be designed and built with the bridge on the front deck. It had a 40 ton fishing capacity.
The boat arrived in Keflavik 19th of March 1961 and was immediately put on use. Baldur KE 97 was in the ownership of Badur Co. for 25 years, thereafter mostly in he ownership of Nesfiskur Co. in Garður.
When the boat was finally retired after 42 years of service it had landed a total of 28,000 tons of fish. It was placed in the care of Ólafur Björnsson who cleaned and painted the boat inside and outside."
