Binnaway has its own & an additional claim to fame. The hotel became famous when it was the scene for the movie "The Shiralee" filmed in 1956 & starring Peter Finch & Bud Tingwell. You can walk through the hotel & view photographs relating to the movie.

Built at the end of the First World War the hotel embodied the sense of relief & hope for the future after this conflict. The population of Binnaway has declined over the years & the pub became vacant before being purchased recently & reopened. Enjoy a cold beer, have an enjoyable lunch as I did & meet the locals.

It has a Facebook page & this month (October 2017) was a finalist in the NSW AHA (Australian Hotels Association) Awards for excellence.... Best Burger Country for their Shiralee Smashed Beef Burger.
