I say "old" Alberton School because just east is a newer school building, an addition, not a replacement. The old Alberton School, still in use, was completed in 1917 and is still in use. It is, by the way, now a
National Historic Site.
The time-temp-date sign stands at the edge of the school's front lawn, at the southeast corner, making it easily seen by passersby on Railroad Avenue, which serves as Alberton's main street. The sign has a free bonus in that it displays not only the time and temperature, but also the date, for those of us who are constantly losing track of the days. We old fossils find this a very handy feature, occasionally preventing us from showing up for an appointment a day late and a dollar short.
Today is June 7, 2017 at 3:34 PM and the temperature is 87° F or for those Canadians 30.5° C.
