BOY RUN OVER BY FATHER'S COKE TRUCK
GOULBURN, Thursday.
A father accidentally ran over and killed his two-year-old son at Mittagong, 60 miles from Goulburn today. Mark Vincent Worner fell under the front wheel of the truck his father was driving. Mr. Maxwell Vincent Worner, of Sunset Road, Mittagong, was backing the truck into a shed to deliver coke to a Mittagong Hotel. He told the police he felt a bump, got out of the truck, and found his son lying dead near the front left hand wheel. Mr. Worner said that as he backed the vehicle into the shed he saw one of his sons watching and thought Mark was standing with his brother. Then he felt the bump. He had taken the two boys for a drive while he made the coke delivery.
His headstone features gold lettering on red granite & is on the family grave where his mother & father are now interred. It is worded:
In loving memory of our dear son
Mark Vincent Worner
Accidentally killed 25th July 1963
Aged 3 years.
