It is built of locally produced brick from the Beamer Brick Works, and the house is one of very few large Queen Anne residences in Belton constructed entirely of brick. The house is also distinguished by its prominent siting near the courthouse square.
The house is asymmetrical in plan; the main mass of the building has a steeply-pitched hipped roof, and on the northeast and southwest corners are two projecting bays, while the prominent southeast corner is occupied by a hooded tower. Running along the east and south facades is a l-story wraparound gallery with Eastlake columns, heavy ball and spindle fretwork, and turned balusters. The roof of the gallery is patterned pressed metal.
