The town of New Wilson (and later, Wilson) was founded in 1913 and named by John Ringling after Charles Wilson, manager of the Ringling Brothers Circus. The George B. Orr building is located on the northwest corner of 8th Street and Main. It is currently occupied by Wood Parts and Art, a woodworking company producing a wide variety of wood products, as well as repairs and remodeling. We had to chuckle when we saw a small sign on this woodworking door which read: "Sawdust is Man Glitter".
This is a two-story brick building with a flat roof and stepped parapet. The name/date block is located on the upper wall on the south side of the building. It reads: "19 GEO. B. ORR 21". The building has two storefronts. At the southeast east corner of the building is a single door entry on the south, with a boarded up entry on the east. At these entrances, projected brick pilasters have cast concrete bands for decoration. West of the corner door is a large window unit with the lower half glass blocks.
On the west end of the facade a separate storefront has a single door, flanked with display windows that also have glass blocks on the lower half. A metal awning is above this store front. The building is addressed 1068 E. Main.
