The Isle of Man Sea Terminal was built for the Isle of Man Government and is used by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Co. as its ferry terminal on the Island.

The terminal was built in 1965, to handle rising passenger numbers, and also for security reasons.

The 'three leg' plan of the original building is not visually evident when close to the building but is apparent when viewed from above.

The office tower is circular and has an inclined facade which is designed to deflect the wind as the building is on a very exposed site.

Like the rendereing on the Methodist Church on the adjacent promenade this building's rendering contains crushed blue glass.

The distinctive roof of the building which gives the building its alternative name of 'the lemon squeezer' appears to be constructed of folded concrete but is in fact formed in timber and plywood.

The main building has a precast concrete frame.
