Pour des générations de Canadiens et de Canadiennes, Maurice «Rocket» Richard a incarné l’excellence sur les patinoires de la ligue nationale de hockey. Athlète fougueux et talentueux, homme d’honneur respecté, Canadien admiré ici et au délà de nos frontières, le «Rocket» était en fait bien plus qu’un joueur de hockey.
Maurice Richard a personnifié des valeurs bien canadiennes, comme la compassion, la détermination et le respect. Par sa persévérence, sa légendaire rapidité sur la glace - qui a d’ailleurs valu son surnom de «Rocket» - et sa devise «Ne jamais abandonner». Il a marqué son époque et notre mémoire collective.
En 1944-45, Maurice Richard a été le premier joueur de la Ligue Nationale de hockey a marquer 50 buts en 50 parties en une saison. Il a été nommé à l”Ordre du Canada en 1967 et au Conseil Privé en 1992.

A Canadian Legend
For generations of Canadians, Maurice “Rocket” Richard was the embodiment of excellence on the rinks of the National Hockey League. A fiery, talented athlete, a respected man of honour, a Canadian admired at home and abroad, the “Rocket” was much more than a hockey player.
Maurice Richard personified profoundly Canadian values such as compassion, determination and respect. With his perseverance, his legendary speed on ice which earned him the nickname “Rocket” and his motto “Never give up”, he left his mark on Canadians of all generations.
In 1944-45, Maurice Richard became the first player in the National Hockey League to score 50 goals in 50 games in one season. He was appointed to the Order of Canada in 1967 and the Privy Council in 1992.
