Mount De Chantal
Established in 1848 and incorporated as the Wheeling Female Academy in 1852. Founded by the Sisters of the Visitation and the Right Reverend R. V. Whelan, Bishop of Richmond, to educate Catholic women. Academy moved to this site and into the main building in 1865. Listed on National Register in 1978, Mount de Chantal... open to students of all denominations.
