Beside the Parramatta Wharf are a couple of signs, with one for the 'namesake' of the local Football club.

For those waymarkers that don't know, the local NRL (National Rugby League) club is the Parramatta Eels, with blue and yellow their colours. FaceBook page = (visit link)

The sign has a colour picture of an eel, with the following information below it:

"Eels are born in marine waters and migrate as juveniles up rivers and estuaries to fresh water. As they reach maturity they move downstream to congregate at places like this where fresh water meets the salt water of the harbour. In late summer and autumn when they're ready to spawn they swim out to sea to lay their eggs."
