"Crappies love to live in the Buck Basin -- at least, until a fisherman catches them. A fiberglass statue of a crappie stands at the entrance to a popular fishing area."
This fiberglass sculpture of a crappie is located at the Kirby Point Access Area to Reelfoot Lake. The sculpture is by an unknown artist and pays tribute to one of the lakes principal fish. There are no plaques or markings. The sculpture is on a painted concrete plinth that appears to be an underground rock. The statue is approximately 7 foot tall and 10 foot long - it is three dimensional. The sculpture is an inspiration to get out there and catch some crappie of one's own!
The access area is a small park with a couple of picnic tables. It mainly has a boat launch and parking for vehicles and boat trailers after launching boats to go out and trying to go catch said crappie and other fish.
