The historic anchor is located on a grassy area on the Rhine promenade. It is a gift from the British city of Cleethopes. Königswinter has maintained a city partnership with Cleethopes since 1974.
Norman Cole, Mayor of Cleethopes, presented this anchor during a visit on October 4, 1988.
A plaque in front of the anchor reminds of this gift.
