Loch Earn is a freshwater loch in Scotland running six and a half miles from east to west between the mountains in the southern part of the highlands and straddling two counties.
Two villages are situated at either end, St Fillans to the east in Perth & Kinross, and Lochearnhead to the west in Stirlingshire. The loch is easily accessible with the A85 road hugging the entire length of the northern shoreline, and the South Loch Earn road, a narrow motorable road, running along the south side.
The loch is a popular water sports destination, and also for fishing, with brown and rainbow trout. The peak of Ben Vorlich overlooks the southern side of the loch which is consistently around three quarters of a mile in width along its entire length.
