"In the north chapel (vestry) is the alabaster effigy of a priest in eucharistic vestments, upon an earlier tomb of freestone: the figure retains traces of gilding and colour. The figure is said to represent John Vernam (d. 1489), four times rector (1465–71, 1471–73, 1477–82, 1486–89)."
