"The Paci?c Crest Trail spans the entire west coast, a 2,650-mile
route from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon and
Washington. Great elevation differences along the route provide
for a diverse experience as the trail passes deserts, old-growth
forests, alpine lakes, volcanoes, glaciers and rain forests.

In Oregon, the trail is largely wooded, following the somewhat gentle crest of the Cascade Range. Open areas provide commanding views of volcanic peaks and glaciers. About 300 thru-hikers attempt to complete the route each year. Thousands of others, both on foot and on horseback, enjoy their chosen portion of the trail."
