Located directly in front of the main entrance to the municipal building for the town of Elkford is a memorial cairn. Erected by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 279 Elkford. There are two plaques affixed to the cairn.

The uppermost plaque reads:

DEDICATED TO ALL THOSE
WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE
WARS AND CONFLICTS OF THE
20TH CENTURY AND ESPECIALLY
THOSE WHO FOUGHT AND DIED
THAT OTHERS COULD BE FREE.

AND THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL,
DISTRICT OF ELKFORD
IN THE YEAR 2000

CANADIAN PEACEKEEPERS

The lower plaque reads:

Dedicated to
the men and women
who paid the supreme sacrifice
1914 - 1918
1939 - 1945 Wars
1950 - 1953

At the going down of the Sun
and in the morning
we will remember them.
