Warner Oland was a hugely successful Swedish born actor. From 1912 to 1937 he appeared in 97 films and portrayed dozens of characters including Dr. Fu Manchu and Charlie Chan. He is interred in Southborough Rural Cemetery in Southborough, MA.

Warner Oland was born Johan Verner Ölund on October 3, 1879 in a rural village in Bjurholm, Sweden. At age 13 his family emigrated to the United States. After several years working in theater, he made his debut in the silent film Pilgrim's Progress. He went on to appear in 97 films and portrayed such iconic characters as Dr. Fu Manchu and Charlie Chan.
