[DE] "Die Balduinbrücke ist eine steinerne Bogenbrücke über die Mosel in Koblenz. Die älteste erhaltene Brücke der Stadt wurde im 14. Jahrhundert erbaut. Sie ist bei Kilometer 1,04 die letzte Brücke über die Mosel vor deren Mündung in den Rhein am Deutschen Eck und verbindet die Altstadt mit dem Stadtteil Lützel. Im Laufe der Zeit erfuhr die Balduinbrücke einige teils erhebliche Umbauten.
Die Balduinbrücke wurde aus devonischer Grauwacke und vulkanischem Gestein (Basaltlava) errichtet. Ursprünglich bestand die Brücke aus vierzehn Bögen mit dreizehn Pfeilern und überspannte die Mosel in einer Länge von 325 m zwischen den Widerlagern. Alle Pfeiler stehen auf Pfahlroste.
Heute überspannt sie in einer Länge von 246 m zwischen den Widerlagern die Mosel neben der Alten Burg. Die Gesamtlänge des Brückenbauwerks samt den Vorlandbrücken auf beiden Seiten beträgt 475 m. Auf der Lützeler Seite sind drei Bögen erhalten geblieben, dann überspannt eine moderne Spannbetonbrücke den Schifffahrtskanal, schließlich folgen sieben historische Bögen auf Koblenzer Seite. Die Brückenrampe auf der Koblenzer Seite wird von weiteren drei mächtigen Bögen getragen."
[EN] "The Balduin Bridge is a stone arched bridge over the Moselle in Koblenz. The oldest preserved bridge in the city was built in the 14th century. At kilometre 1.04 it is the last bridge over the Moselle before it flows into the Rhine at the Deutsches Eck and connects the old town with the district of Lützel. In the course of time, the Balduin Bridge underwent some considerable alterations.
The Balduin Bridge was built of Devonian greywacke and volcanic rock (basalt lava). Originally the bridge consisted of fourteen arches with thirteen piers and spanned the Moselle in a length of 325 m between the abutments. All pillars stand on pile grates.
Today it spans the Moselle next to the Old Castle in a length of 246 m between the abutments. The total length of the bridge structure including the foreland bridges on both sides is 475 m. Three arches have been preserved on the Lützel side, then a modern prestressed concrete bridge spans the shipping canal, and finally seven historic arches follow on the Koblenz side. The bridge ramp on the Koblenz side is supported by another three mighty arches."
