One of the loveliest trails that I have walked in the York County area was the Ulmer-Root-Haines Memorial Park. The quarter mile trail rambles through the forest with descriptive signage along the way and eventually leads to a beautiful waterfall. The park is only about 26 acres but it is packed with a variety of native wildflowers and trees. Located across the street from Indian Steps Museum, this little wildlife sanctuary is a memorial to H.C. Ulmer, Benjamin T. Root, and Mahlon N. Haines, all early members of the Conservation Society of York County who maintains this little preserve.
