The quote appears on the lower of the two WWI plaques on this memorial above the words:
"IN HONOURED MEMORY OF THOSE FROM
THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES
FOR THEIR COUNTRY AN IN GRATITUDE
TO THOSE WHO FOUGH OR IN ANY WAY
HELPED IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918
THIS MEMORIAL WAS ERECTED BY THE
INHABITANTS OF BALLAUGH 1920"

This memorial has a yellow sandstone square base surmounted by square double plinth, shaft and Celtic Cross with two dedicatory bronze plaques set into front face of plinth with inscription in relief.

About the memorial:One of two parish memorials in this village, the other being at the church. Memorial set in a yellow sandstone plinth with a Celtic cros at the top. There are two bronze plaques towards the base and the right side panel has been carved at a later date to commemorate WW2. The memorial was unveiled on 06 April 1921 by Lieutenant Governor Major-General Sir William Fry, K.C.V.O., C.B. Isle of Man National Inventory of War Memorials: IOM_NIWM_BAL_00002"
