This scale model of the B11 submarine which while being commanded by Lieutenant Holbrook sailed into the Dardennells through minefields to Dardan Bay, where they torpedoed and sunk the Turkish battleship Messoudieh during World War I.
Afterwards returning to safety after staying submerged for a record 9 hours in a vessel that usually only stayed submerged and running underwater for a maximum of 2 hours.
Holbrook was the first Naval personnel awarded the Victoria Cross, The highest and most prestigious military award for gallantry "in the presence of the enemy" and the ships crew were awarded Distinguished Service Medals for their part in the endeavour.
Following the event the town of Germantown was renamed Holbrook
