In Milton, along Canton Avenue, is the First Parish Church, listed as a contributing building within the Milton Centre Historic District.

The church is visible from Canton Avenue and is on the west side of the Milton Common at the end of a U-Shaped driveway-attached to a parking lot.

The nomination form for the district has the following for this building:

"The First Parish Church (Map # 105, MHC # B-5, 553 Canton Avenue) a two story rectangular building with gable roof and two-stage tower, was constructed in 1787-1788 as the fourth meetinghouse for the town of Milton. It originally stood lengthwise along Canton Avenue, and combined the earlier meetinghouse form with a Wren-inspired tower and steeple. The entrance was in the center of the seven-bay facade, and the interior was organized laterally with galleries around three sides. On the southeast gable end was a tower with belfry and steeple. In 1835, with the conversion of the building to a Unitarian church, the building was turned ninety degrees to its present position and remodeled extensively. The base of the tower was transformed into a pedimented pavilion that becomes the main entrance. This portion of the building shows the influence of the prevailing Greek Revival style; wide enablature, incised pilasters marking the three-bay facade, and flushboard siding. The interior of the building was re-oriented at this time, with the pulpit relocated opposite the main entrance."

The building is still used by the Unitarian-Universalist Congregation.
