VFW Post 3656 meets in a building on the west side of Bristow. Adjacent to this meeting house is a large area dedicated as a war memorial, which also includes the National Wake Island Memorial. Many items of military equipment and memorials are located here.

This granite monument was placed by the Muskogee Chapter of the American Ex-Prisoners of War organization. Established in 1942 as the Bataan Relief Organization (BRO), the name was changed in 1949 to its current designation. This is a nationwide organization that acts as advocates for ex-prisoners of war. Their motto is "Non Solum Armis" (Not by Arms Alone). They are headquartered in Arlington, Texas. Membership is open to all former prisoners of war, military and civilian, along with their immediate families over 18.

This monument has an engraving of a war encampment fence and entrance, with observation towers. The seal of the organization is also engraved. Flanking the monument are the tips of two shells.
