"The Museum of infantry régiment is located in the barracks Trésignies in Charleroi, built in 1880 and classified in 1979.
This was the garrison of the 1st Regiment of Foot Hunters before 1919 and the 2nd Regiment of Foot Hunters from 1919 until 1976.
The name of "Trésignies" was given to him in memory of Corporal Trésignies, hero of the war 14-18, militia to the 2nd Hunters on foot.
Organized under the title "The Freedom Award", the museum shows in a didactic way how the Foot Hunters, from the 1830 Revolution to the operations in the former Yugoslavia, helped to recapture or maintain Liberty. Many other humanitarian and military operations, still in progress, are evidence of the presence of our Hunters on all lands where people are deprived of their fundamental rights.
This museum brings together a unique heritage in Belgium, from the twelve regiments of Foot Hunters, among which many hunters have paid with their blood the price of this freedom enjoyed by the Belgian population."
